A plan that puts feet on the street as it were. Motion to my motivation. There are things I am considering and evaluating to see if they will move me forward or simply be a distraction. So here are some questions I am asking that may be helpful for you.

1. What training will I attend to move me forward this year? Get the dates, the information and decide on 3-4.

2. What books will I read this year to move me forward? Write the titles down, get them ordered.

3. Who will I engage with this year as a friend or mentor to move me forward? Identify them – contact them – engage.

4. What will I do to recreate this year to move me forward? Find the places you will go – schedule and book them.

There are more but you get the idea – begin – take small but measurable steps each day and 2012 will be an amazing year. Don’t take any steps and sit idly by and it will be an amuzing year. Most of our society is amuzed – by those who are amazing.

What side of the coin do you want to be on? I choose amazing.

What a beautiful idea “we must all exceed our own expectations” because in fact it is a wonderful world when we do!  Take a moment and think about the idea.

Exceed expectations – we look for it in those around us.  Perhaps not on a conscious level but we certain are aware when it doesn’t happen.  Some on cuts you off, or doesn’t give you the right change.  Your order takes to long or whatever may irk you.

Exceed expectations – hey there – my order was too fast, the food was too good.  Your staff was too nice and you had exactly what I wanted when I wanted it…..  Things we rarely hear.

We must all exceed our own expectations…go the extra mile.  Create “raving fans” ok, I know your mom is a fan but we are talking about the human race at large.  Who else loves you?  You?  You can when you exceed your own expectations.

Don’t let yourself down.  Don’t give up just short of greatness…. you have genius and beauty in you…you have power and creativity too.  You were created in the likeness of the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth and He doesn’t create junk.

Go out risk it….see how far you can go and then go further.  Get someone to be on your team to push you to achieve more.  To exceed what you expect.  If you run a mile or block then get someone to push you to run 3, 4 or 5 more.  If you earn $50k a year get someone to push you to earn $200k or more.  If you have a few great friends, get someone to push you to have more….if you contribute to our society, get someone to push you to exceed your own expectations.

This past Sunday on the way home from Church we got stuck in traffic. There was an accident on the interstate and they closed all three lanes and were feeding us off on the shoulder. It was an interesting time.

My kids 8, 6, and 4 all wanted to know why we weren’t going down the on ramp like everyone else. Clearly, this would have been one way to beat the traffic. Dangerous, yes. Against the law, yes. Beat the traffic, yes. No we didn’t. Then they wondered why some people were driving in the grass and so on. Traffic can be a great teaching tool, not just for kids.

You see when we face traffic in our lives, jobs, careers, contracts, relationships etc, that don’t seem to be going as we like, we must decide. How will we behave? What will we do? What will we not do?

Each day we are presented with traffic situations, that we get to make the call about. Will we change directions for success? Or will we be patient and wait for the traffic to clear? There are two different methods to success. The question is which one is right for you and your situation.

I tender these things to help you think about what you are going through (notice I said through) you are not stuck unless you choose to be. Oh, you may be moving slowly in a traffic jam, but stuck never, unless by choice. If you want to look at attitude in the crisis it will give you a good indication on which method you may choose for success.

I encourage you not to break the law. Don’t violate someone else’s rules just to move you forward, don’t do the wrong thing. Keep a positive attitude. Look for a way around, a change in direction, or be patient and wait for things to clear.
